History of Highwood PWD
Highwood PWD, previously Highwood Farm, was started in 1990 with a Portuguese Water Dog named Champion Cutwater's Isabelle of Robel. This bitch along with her two sons, Champion Cutwater's High Fidelity and Champion High Conquistador formed the bases of our kennel. Champion Cutwater's Isabelle of Robel, or Belle, was named "Brood Bitch of the Year" by the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, and as a result of this honor Highwood became Co-Breeder of the Year in 1995.
The following year, in 1996, Champion Cutwater's High Fidelity became #2 in the country in conformation and Champion Cutwater's High Conquistador received a National Award of Merit in conformation from the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America.
The year 2000 brought about many good things to Highwood. We now have Championships on 7 of our dogs. One of our dogs, Champion Questar's Rocketman of Highwood has received a National Award of Merit from the Portugueses Water Dog Club of America. In 2001, Rocketman of Highwood won 1st in the Best of Breed at Westminster. He recieved an Award of Merit in National specialty. Finishing the year ranking 7th in group. In 2002, Rocketman of Highwood was 1st for a large part of the year, finishing 4th in the Breed overall. He received an Award of Merit at Westminster, and was ranked #2 in the World Show in Amsterdam.
